The sharpening head wears faster than expected

A sharpening head is a consumable part, but it should not wear “instantly”.
Fast wear almost always comes from carbide use, high pressure, overheating, or running too fast.

Common causes and fixes:

- You sharpened carbide blades:
Carbide is not suitable for SharpTool 2.0 and can wear the sharpening head down faster while removing the carbide edge. If you used carbide even a few times, that can explain rapid head wear.

- Too much pressure:
Heavy grinding pressure increases heat and sparks and accelerates wear. Use light pressure only—let the CBN head do the work.

- Too much heat / too many blades back-to-back:
Sharpen max 1 blade per minute and let everything cool down fully. Heat buildup shortens head life and reduces results.

- Drill speed too high:
Stay around 1200 RPM. Start at the lowest speed and increase only if needed.

What is the Sharptool lifespan?
SharpTools states the sharpening head lasts up to about 400 sharpening sessions before replacement is needed (usage dependent).
